Description Bio-Metric is a composition structured at its core on the manipulation of a musical pulse that exists in relation to musical time. The musical time is defined by a meter that is constantly changing, whilst the pulse (represented by different rhythmic units) is constant. This network of reciprocal interrelatedness of different parts is called a Metric Web which is the basis for this whole piece. The entire composition incorporates various compositional techniques played by different instruments to create ambiguity and a layered sound. The development of the musical material can be analyzed both horizontally and vertically, offering a wider perspective when examining the relationship of the different instrumental parts with one another. Along with the standard compositional techniques, techniques that have provided a simple solution to the manipulation and development of the complex rhythmic structures such as interpolation, permutation, rotation, filtration and additive rhythm, have also been used during the compositional process. The tonal solution for the piece is found in the twelve tone technique,
shifting the focus from tonal sound and emphasizing the effects of the rhythms and pulse, while the tonal aspect has a role closer to accompaniment or quasi solo. The composition is written in accordance with mathematical proportions from the first to the last bar, and all the different parts belong to the unique system that specifically defines metric relations.
